The IBA Thuringia Closing Exhibition 2023 begins with the vernissage on May 4. Thuringian Minister President Bodo Ramelow and Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction Klara Geywitz will open the exhibition at the Eiermannbau Apolda, which will be open to visitors from May 5.

Thuringia is a StadtLand in transition. The cultural richness of the country, the diversity of cities and villages, and the landscape qualities are the opportunities for a successful and livable future of the Free State. Since 2012, the International Building Exhibition (IBA) Thuringia has ventured into the Thuringian StadtLand. With numerous partners, the IBA has carried out projects and processes: innovative, experimental, practice-oriented. The results and insights from this more than ten-year work will be presented by the IBA in its closing exhibition at the Eiermannbau Apolda and in accompanying events throughout Thuringia: StadtLand - learning from Thuringia.

Festival of Local Heroes
Invitation to Schwarzatal 

With the Festival of Local Heroes, we celebrate Schwarzatal. The focus of all activities is on the rural area and its dedicated actors. The festival deals with highly topical issues such as sustainability, climate protection, and democracy. But coming together and socializing is also a central aspect of the festival.

Publications
of IBA Thuringia

Within the framework of the IBA, resource-efficient projects with common-oriented values in and for the StadtLand Thuringia were developed over more than ten years. The two IBA closing publications "StadtLand Projects. For a new spatial practice" and "StadtLand Perspectives. For a new spatial culture" are project summaries and a plea for a new territorial logic. 

StadtLand Forum
The Debate at Eiermannbau Apolda

In cooperation with the Wüstenrot Foundation, the IBA Thuringia will hold the major StadtLand Forum at the Eiermannbau Apolda in its final year. Five multi-day forums each focus on a thematic focal point and bring together project actors of the IBA Thuringia and the Wüstenrot Foundation with further experts, initiatives, students and university partners, as well as representatives from administration and politics
