1
StadtLand — Learning from Thuringia, Ground Floor

On the first floor of the Eiermann Building, the final exhibition of the IBA Thuringia starts with the presentation of StadtLand Thüringen.

2
StadtLand — Learning from Thuringia, First Floor

The final exhibition continues on the upper floor of the Eiermann Building. The contributions of the IBA projects and their actors as well as further statements from the project processes are assigned to the theses for a sustainable StadtLand. This is followed by a tour of the Open Factory in the Eiermannbau and the IBA Timber Prototype House - a real exhibition on a scale of one to one.

P3
Eiermannbau Apolda

A presentation of the guiding principles for the formerly vacant monument, the Eiermannbau opens the building tour.

P4
Collective Appropriation

At IBA Campus 2018, among other things, a loft bed was created as equipment for the Eiermannbau. At this station, explanations on the collective and experimental Eiermannbau project development since 2016 can be seen.

P5
PILOT TEST EXTENSION AND PLACEMAKING

The second floor, like the entire building, had no electricity or heating. Therefore, the IBA team developed green- house offices for the IBA headquarters. In 2018, the GmbH moved in and gathered important experiences for the further development of the site.

P6
CLIMATE PODS

The greenhouse offices on the second floor vividly showcase the careful and minimally invasive renovation of the monument. The large greenhouse in the space is entirely for your use. Feel free to browse through the publications or stay for a while to experience the working atmosphere in here.

P7
CIRCULATION OF MATERIALS

The room dividing curtains and drywall construction made from straw bale panels demonstrate how resource-efficient building can be achieved.

P8
MORE THAN AN INDUSTRIAL BUILDING

The Eiermann Studio in the former locker rooms of the Apolda fire extinguisher factory and an historic path in the middle staircase provide information on the building and its different uses throughout the time.

P9
CARE AS A PRINCIPLE OF DEVELOPMENT

The two-hectare open space also belongs to the site and has a lot of potential for development. A care concept for the natural environment strengthens its natural dynamics and qualities. In 2023, the open space will be intensively used by the StadtLand Forum.

P10
Winkelbau

The angular building is the second existing building of the property and is currently being developed by the State Development Corporation of Thuringia. Soon, the Lebenshilfe-Werk Weimar/ Apolda, also offering an inclusive day café, will move in here.

P11
IBA Timber Prototype House

The digitally designed and robotically fabricated timber construction will be a special exhibition space in 2023 and invites visitors to look back, gain insight, and take a look into the future of IBA with a photo exhibiton. All photographs shown are by Thomas Müller.
